Analysis of Three Year 12 Artworks
Kim Phan’s “Cach Nhin. Mtazamo. Perspective.”
This artwork drew my attention because of the interesting idea of drawing a different perspective on each side of the paper. It is interesting how the artwork makes the audience think about their cultural experiences and what society thinks and see’s when thinking about certain cultures. It is interesting how she has explored different sides or perspectives of cultures and stories. For example, on one of her artworks she shows, on one side, completely natural images of animals and natural places such as forests. However, on the other side of the paper, Kim Phan has an image of the continent of Africa with images of starving children, and then around the continent there are a collage of images of statistics and economic graphs. It is interesting how she depicts different elements of culture and nature through her images.
Mathew Hourigan’s “What on Earth Happened Here?”
I think this artwork was interesting because of the way that Hourigan depicted the impact of society’s wants and desires on the earth. His use of found objects, being the small childrens toys, depict all the different parts of society. It is interesting how he focus’ on the issues in the world and their significance in society. It is interesting how he explores the growth and development on societal issues and their impact on the planet.
Kim Dinning’s “The Seven Wonders Of Erosion”
I was interested in this artwork because of the magnificent detail in each of the pieces of work and the way that they reflect the cycle of human establishment and disbandment and the process of nature reclaiming the land. It is interesting how Dinning used colour to draw attention to certain aspects of the work, such as in one of the pieces the grey scale abandoned house with the coloured plants surrounding and almost engulfing it. I like how she has made a comment on the dominance of nature.
